The University of B.C. Thunderbirds and Simon Fraser University Red Leafs are both now into extended preparation time for their first showdown in over a decade.
UBC and SFU only have the resurrected Shrum Bowl, the exhibition match-up which goes Dec. 2 at Terry Fox Field atop Burnaby Mountain, remaining on their schedules.
The Shrum Bowl was first contested between the schools in 1967, but has been on the shelf since 2010 due to scheduling conflicts. It has become more difficult to schedule since SFU left UBC and its other Canada West football rivals in 2010 to join NCAA Div. II.
