T-Mobile, MetroPCS In Merger

Bellevue-based T-Mobile USA, the mobile carrier owned by Deutsche Telekom, and fellow wireless carrier MetroPCS Communications said this morning that the two are in a merger, which will combine T-Mobile and MetroPCS. The firms said that MetroPCS shareholders will receive $1.5 billion in cash, plus 26% ownership in the new, combined company. The companies said that the new company will be based in Bellevue, and creates a firm with $24.8B revenues and 45.2 million subscribers.
