It was June 1, 2020. A crowd of thousands of protesters who had marched peacefully throughout the day over the death of George Floyd had made their way up Pine to 11th Avenue on Capitol Hill, where leaders of the march had indicated they intended to complete their march with a pass by the East Precinct.
