A woman walking near Crossroads Mall in Bellevue was able to escape Saturday after she was grabbed by a man in an apparent abduction attempt, police said.
Officers responded to the scene, in the 800 block of 160th Avenue Northeast, on the east side of the mall, at about 2:15 p.m. after receiving a report of an attempted abduction, said a Bellevue Police spokesperson.
The victim told police she was walking there when a man approached her in his car and said something to her.
She could not understand what he said and did not know the man, so she kept walking. Meanwhile, the suspect kept following her and yelling at her.
Eventually he stopped, got out of his car, grabbed the woman and pulled her towards him. She pushed him away and was able to get away, and the man left.
The man was described as Hispanic, in his 40s, with short, dark hair. He was driving a green compact car believed to be an older Geo Metro. The woman said he appeared to be intoxicated.
