This morning the James Beard Foundation announced the nominees for its restaurant awards, and Seattle Met 2024 Restaurant of the Year Atoma continued its rampage through national media and accolades by snagging a finalist spot for Best New Restaurant. That means it secured enough votes to move from semifinalist to straight-up nominee. The other local semifinalist, Familyfriend, did not make the cut. Seattle’s only other national-level nomination came from Archipelago, for Outstanding Hospitality.
Seattle fared even worse closer to home, without a single nomination for the regional Best Chef category, which covers Washington, Oregon, Alaska, and Hawaii. Orcas Island’s Jay Blackinton of Houlme did snag one of the five spots to
