When I’m Sick, All I Want Is a Bowl of Pho

It’s that time of year when flu season overlaps with soup season, and often, the former definitely necessitates the latter. Aside from a homemade chicken noodle soup or congee, pho is the soup I seek out when sick.

Last night, mask on, I ventured to stalwart Madison South restaurant Pho Oregon for my fix. Yes, I could have gotten takeout or delivery — pho restaurants usually package soup separately from the noodles so they won’t get soggy. But you can never get it to the same piping hot temperature as straight from the restaurant’s slowly simmering pot, and I don’t know, it’s just not the same.
