PORTLAND, Ore. — A crash in the southbound lanes on the Marquam Bridge closed the ramp to Interstate 5 southbound for several hours during the Thursday
morning commute.
The crash, reported just after 4 a.m., involved a semi truck that spilled about 100 gallons of diesel fuel. Safety barriers were also damaged.
Aerial views showed an SUV into the back of a car that was wrecked into the back of a Fed EX truck. Police did not release the identities of the people involved or the extent of their injuries.
The ramp to Interstate 405 northbound remained open throughout the commute, but transportation officials recommended avoiding the bridge altogether. At one point, the drive from Main Street in Vancouver to the Fremont Bridge took more than 80 minutes.
