A Keizer elementary school was temporarily evacuated after a large industrial oven caught fire Wednesday.
Fire crews were dispatched about 10:45 a.m. to Kennedy Elementary Schoolat 4912 Noren Ave. N.E. They found a light smoke in the school’s main hallway and flames coming from the oven inside the kitchen, according to the Keizer Fire Department.
The fire scorched the oven and a nearby wall, the department said. The flames were extinguished and none of the school’s 440 students or 50 staff members were hurt.
An electrical malfunction in the oven is believed to be the cause of the fire.
