Cozy Nob Hill Italian restaurant Caffe Mingo and its next-door sibling Barba have closed indefinitely following a fire that occurred in the morning on Monday, August 5. No one was injured, but the fire caused major damage to both restaurants.
Owner Michael Cronan opened Caffe Mingo in 1991 — the restaurant’s simple approach to Italian fare like fresh pastas and pizza made it a stalwart for special occasions like birthday and anniversary dinners. Cronan told FOX 12 Oregon that he hopes to reopen in six months, saying simply, “We’ll be back.” A couple of longtime restaurant patrons have started a GoFundMe campaign to support Caffe Mingo’s 35 staff
