TIGARD, Ore. – Police say a nearby business owner was arrested after he
drove through a cornhole tournament in Tigard Saturday morning.
The tournament was taking place at J.B. O’Brien’s Pub when a pickup truck suddenly plowed through a barrier that was setup for the event.
Witnesses said bystanders had to jump out of the way of the pickup and that the truck drove over a couple of cornhole boards. No one was hurt.
“They almost hit almost all the guys and ran over all the boards…it was absolutely crazy,” said Cheyenne Scrivner with the National Cornhole League.
The business owner, 41-year-old Matthew Dolphin, was upset that the tournament was taking away parking spots, police said.
Dolphin was arrested for reckless driving and booked in the Washington County Jail.
“It’s still surreal that all that just happened and that no one was hurt because a lot of people were really really close to getting run over,” Scrivner said.
