Man killed in wrong-way crash on I-5 near Canyonville

 A 44-year-old man was killed when his car crashed head-on with another vehicle that was traveling the wrong way on Interstate 5.

At about 4:30 a.m. today just north of Canyonville, a 26-year-old male driving a GMC Yukon SUV was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of I-5 when he collided with the other man’s Kia sedan, police said. 

The driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene, and the 26-year-old, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to the hospital with

The driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene, and the 26-year-old, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police are unsure if the other driver was using safety restraints.

Oregon State Police expect to release the names of both drivers today and continue to investigate the crash.
