PORTLAND, Ore. — Audio of the original mayday call from firefighters was released, giving some insight into the immediate aftermath of Wednesday morning’s natural gas explosion
in Northwest Portland.
At least eight people — three firefighters, two police officers and three civilians — were injured in the explosion. None of the injuries to the firefighters is life-threatening, with the most significant injury being a broken leg that required surgery.
The explosion happened at 9:39 a.m. on Wednesday morning at Northwest 23rd Avenue and Glisan Street.
