Portland’s local stations have been giving ample time to covering our snowy, wintry weather. For the most part, it’s been the usual: anchors delivering warnings about being cautious while driving; weather forecasters standing in front of green screens and explaining the difference between snow, sleet and freezing rain; and chilly-looking, parka-clad reporters standing on freeway overpasses and other frigid locales telling us about traffic problems.
Today, though, locals have been getting some giggles by going online and sharing a clip from a KOIN (6) segment, in which reporter Lisa Balick talks to a couple in North Portland who are out running because, as the woman says, “It’s the perfect texture for running.” Her male companion agrees. “It’s too nice to not be out here,” he says.
Balick asks them if they’re surprised by all this snow. The man says, “We’re both California kids,” so they don’t have much experience with snow days.
Then the couple takes off running, and well…it’s slippery out there.
