Don Hamilton, an Oregon Department of Transportation spokesman, said the worst congestion will be along I-205, since motorists won’t be able to hop onto the Banfield to get downtown.
Late Saturday afternoon, however, I-5 and I-205, as well as several east-west thoroughfares such as Sandy and Powell boulevards, are expected to be a slog as “American Idol” fans try to get to the show.
“It would be a good idea for motorists to take mass transit,” Hamilton said.
