The closure has been ongoing since after 8 p.m. According to police, a person in crisis is sitting on the railing of the Northeast 12th Avenue overpass.
Police has sent out officers trained with specialty crisis communication skills to assist the person on the Blumenauer Bridge.
“We are working to resolve this as quickly and safely as possible,” Portland police said via Twitter.
Police are offering medical help and hope the person will agree to come back over the railing soon. As of 11 p.m. the situation was still ongoing.
