A broken sewer line in Southwest Portland is leaking into Ash Creek, officials say. Stuart Tomlinson reports crews are working to repair the leak, but people shouldn’t let their pets drink from the creek near the intersection of Southwest Knightsbridge and Orchard Drive until repairs are complete.

A man robbed a Key Bank branch at 4131 Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard Monday afternoon around 3:40 p.m., and police are seeking the public’s help. The man was described as in his early 30s and between 5 feet, 7 inches and 6 feet tall with short brown hair and a beard.

Both Saint Cupcake locations–in Southwest downtown and on Southeast Belmont–will be closing at the end of the year. But Michael Russell reports owner Jamie Curl isn’t going anywhere. The Southeast shop will reopen as a second Quin outpost (Curl sells caramels, marshmallows and more at a small downtown location) and will serve a limited line of cupcakes, he reports. The Southwest Morrison location will transform into a new project. Curl told Russell she is involved in the new project, but is not willing to divulge information yet.

In other food news, the restaurant formally Compote on Southeast Clinton reopens today as Block’s Cafe. Samantha Bakall reports the cafe has a grab-and-go market for those on their way to work or home, but also serves all-day breakfast and lunch.

Still have Christmas shopping to do? Janet Eastment reports you don’t have to worry, because thoughtful gifts by local artists (that benefit museums and gardens!) are available at the Pavilion Gallery at the Portland Japanese Garden in Southwest Portland through Christmas Eve.

If you happened to be driving on West Burnside downtown yesterday around 2 p.m. you may have noticed this unusual sight: A huge trailer dumping blankets and winter clothes into the street, followed by chaos as 15 to 20 volunteers scrambled to get the donation inside a Saint Andre Bessette Catholic Church.
