Doug Penner, the longtime owner of the Twilight Room on North Lombard Street, has passed away. When he first came to the bar on North Lombard in 1949, he was an 18-year-old recruited from Mt. Angel, his hometown, to play football at the University of Portland.
North Mississippi Avenue sober club 4th Dimension will try to raise money this weekend by selling Christmas trees in their lotat 2410 North Mississippi. The nonprofit is selling Grand Firs for $35 and Nobles for $45. They’ll be selling every day starting Friday through Christmas Eve.
