Following complaints, Uber introduced a new feature to combat discrimination against people with service animals.
PORTLAND, Ore. — Uber launched a new feature designed to help people with service animals get a ride. The feature, introduced in February, followed a KGW investigation into Uber and Lyft drivers who canceled rides for people with disabilities because of their service animals.
“I just wish there could be some respect. Some dignity,” said Patricia Kepler, with her guide dog Gus by her side. For years, Kepler and others have complained to Uber and Lyft that the ride-share companies aren’t doing enough to stop discrimination against those who are blind,
