Some Providence nurses and physicians represented by the Oregon Nurses Association walked out to strike for better wages and staffing to improve patient care.
PORTLAND, Ore. — Friday morning marked the largest healthcare worker strike in Oregon history, as physicians and nurses hit the picket lines outside of Providence hospitals. This is also the first strike in state history to ever include physicians.
Providence reported that 609 Oregon Nurses Association caregivers reported to work Friday, out of a total of nearly 5,000 ONA represented workers.
While all hospitals remained open, Providence St. Vincent was the most impacted, as only physicians from St. Vincent and Providence Women’s Clinics
