Portland Opera moves to downtown in revitalization bid

Some efforts to get people back to downtown Portland have been a bust, but city leaders are betting on the arts and events to help revitalize the area.

PORTLAND, Ore. — After more than two decades of calling the Hampton Opera Center home, the Portland Opera has moved away from the eastside waterfront and into downtown.

Its new home, located in the World Trade Center at 121 Southwest Salmon Street, sits within the heart of downtown, across the street from Tom McCall Waterfront Park. 

While most of Portland Opera’s performances take place at the Keller Auditorium, its new location will include a 200-seat theater
