Oregon nurses, doctors set to strike over ‘strained and dangerous’ conditions at Providence facilities

Some nurses, doctors and health care workers are expected to hit the picket lines Friday morning after the union and Providence failed to reach a deal.

OREGON, USA — Nurses represented by the Oregon Nurses Association (ONA) and potentially over 100 physicians will hit the picket line outside of eight Providence Hospitals, starting at 6 a.m. on Friday morning.

Nurses, physicians and other health care professionals from eight Providence hospitals and six Providence clinics issued a 10-day notice back on Dec. 30 of their intent to hold a strike.

This came after what the nurses union, ONA, said had been months of negotiations.
