The Oregon Department of Forestry released the final version of its statewide wildfire hazard map, an effort that’s been plagued by controversy since its inception.
OREGON, USA — When it comes to rebuilding after fires, a lot of people are relying on their homeowner’s insurance. But with the increase in wildfires, as well as the risk of fires more broadly, some insurance companies are pulling out, saying it’s too expensive for them to insure some homes.
Many insurance companies rely on wildfire risk maps to see where a home is located and whether it might be vulnerable to fire.
