SANDY, Ore. — Oregon cattle ranchers are trying to make sense of the head-spinning tariffs that many predict will only increase beef prices for U.S. consumers.
Ranchers Randy and Michelle Carmony, from Sandy, have been running the family’s Echo Valley Cattle Ranch for decades. Randy’s father began the direct-to-consumer production more than 60 years ago.
“Who’s coming to say hi?” asks Michelle, as she greets a group of yearlings preparing for slaughter in August.
