New tariffs on imports could raise prices for everyday grocery items

Items like cucumbers, strawberries and avocados are expected to see price hikes as new tariffs go into effect.

SEATTLE — New tariffs on imported products from Mexico and Canada are already beginning to impact prices on everyday items. Consumers can expect to see higher prices for common produce such as cucumbers, strawberries, and asparagus, with tariffs set at 25%.

Bud Goodwin, owner of Rising Sun Produce in Seattle, explained that produce imported from Mexico, such as tomatoes, could soon feel the sting of the new tariffs.
