Nearly 250 probationary TSA workers lose jobs as part of Trump administration cuts

The Transportation Security Administration is tasked with protecting transportation centers and was created in the wake of Sept. 11.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Transportation Security Administration said hundreds of Transportation Safety Administration probationary workers lost their jobs as part of the Trump administration’s goals.

For the past several days, the administration’s Department of Government Efficiency has slashed jobs across several federal agencies. The department’s cuts have widely affected probationary employees — workers who had been on the job for less than a year and had yet to get civil service protection.
