Here’s how many Seattle-based employees were impacted in Starbucks’ layoffs

The company announced the layoffs earlier this week in an effort to “operate more efficiently,” according to its CEO.

SEATTLE — Starbucks announced layoffs earlier this week of over 1,000 employees, and it is now confirmed how many of those impacted were based in Seattle.

There were 612 affected workers in the layoffs, according to a notice from the state’s Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) program. The employees will be let go beginning on May 2, per the notice.

In a letter to employees released Monday, Niccol said the company will inform employees who are being laid off by mid-day Tuesday. Niccol said
