After a grueling 12-hour road trip filled with endless stretches of highway and way too many gas station hot dogs, Mark and Susan Reynolds were looking forward to a peaceful night’s rest. What they didn’t expect was a “charming vintage experience” that would transport them back in time, courtesy of the unmistakable scent of stale cigarettes in their Redmond, Oregon motel room.
“When we opened the door, it hit us like a warm hug from the past,” said Susan. “It reminded me of my childhood summers at my aunt’s house—the one who chain-smoked indoors and kept plastic covers on all her furniture. It was oddly comforting.”
