Snow, ice forecast threatens Portland’s Valentine’s Day deliveries

Portland florists and chocolatiers urge early Valentine’s Day shopping as forecasts predict snow and freezing rain could disrupt Thursday and Friday deliveries.

PORTLAND, Ore. — If weather forecasts hold steady, snow and freezing rain could hit the Portland area Thursday and Friday — Valentine’s Day, KGW meteorologists said.

“It is our busiest week of the year,” said Laura Gifford of Gifford’s Flowers in downtown Portland. “It’s not making us happy that [the storm] is coming in, but it’s not our first year; this has happened before and so we plan for it.”
