Largest school uniform provider in U.S. to shut down Portland operation, lay off over 100 people

The maker of school uniforms nationwide, Dennis Uniforms, announced it’s shutting down its Portland operations.

Dennis Uniform will shut down operations in Portland and elsewhere and implement mass layoffs that include 111 local employees.

The maker of school uniforms said in a filing with Oregon’s Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification office that the layoffs would start Oct. 19. It invoked the “faltering company” exception under the WARN Act to forgo a 60-day notice for the layoffs, citing “severe financial distress.”
