Arturs Silovs can now say it’s an honour just to be nominated.
The Vancouver Canucks’ goalie prospect was named Wednesday as one of seven nominees for the IIHF’s male player of the year award.
His starring role for Latvia at the recent IIHF World Championship — which helped his country to a best-ever third-place finish — no doubt played a big role.
To be eligible for the award, which the IIHF is debuting this year, a player must have competed in one of the IIHF’s three major championships — the IIHF World Championship, the World Juniors or the World U18s — as well as having played
