STANWOOD, Wash. — Authorities say an 86-year-old resident of a Stanwood, Wash., assisted living facility opened fire on an employee, injuring the male worker.
Snohomish County sheriff‘s spokeswoman Shari Ireton said deputies have detained the elderly male resident and recovered a handgun.
The Daily Herald of Everett reports the 59-year-old injured employee was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he was reported in critical but stable condition. No one else was injured.

The Daily Herald of Everett reports the 59-year-old injured employee was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he was reported in critical but stable condition. No one else was injured.
The shooting took place around 3 p.m. Monday at Josephine Sunset Home in Stanwood, about 50 miles north of Seattle.
North County Regional Fire Authority Battalion Chief Scott Johnston says the shooter was apparently upset with the victim. He walked into the victim’s office and shot him twice, hitting him once in the stomach.
The Herald says the Josephine home offers services including apartments for the elderly, 160 nursing home beds and hospice care.
